The other day I went to Yurakucho Station to do some business, so I went to a restaurant of CHAYA macrobiotics, which I had been curious about.
It was my first meal out in the new year, and I was very satisfied with the food, which was hearty and tasty.
Here I would like to introduce the macrobiotic menu we actually ate and the atmosphere of the restaurant.
Access
The nearest stations are Hibiya or Yurakucho Station.
I walked there from Yurakucho Station this time, so I will show you how to get there from Yurakucho Station.
When you exit the Hibiya or Chuo-West Exit of the JR Yurakucho Line, turn left and walk straight along the railroad tracks.
After walking about 100 meters from the station, you will hit the main street (No. 304), so cross it and continue walking along the railroad tracks.
Turn right at the second street counting from the main street (about 60 meters from the main street) (you will see Family Mart on your left immediately after the turn).
Continue walking a little further and you will see Hibiya Shante on your left. Chaya Natural & Wild Table Hibiya is located on the second basement floor of Hibiya Shante.

To CHAYA Natural & Wild Table Hibiya
Chaya Natural & Wild Table Hibiya is about 300 meters from JR Yurakucho Station, it was about a five-minute walk.
The restaurant was located on the second basement floor of Hibiya Chante.
At the entrance, there were many macrobiotic cookies, chocolates, and other macrobiotic sweets.
There were curry and stews of CHAYA macrobiotics as well.
You can sometimes find these at convenience stores such as Natural Lawson.
Inside of the Restaurant
When I entered the restaurant, there was a large table in the center.
There were tables for two and four and sofa seating on both sides of the wall.
I took above pictures just before I left, after lunch time was over, that the seats was empty.
I arrived at the restaurant around 1:30 p.m. on a weekday this time, and about half of the seats were occupied by customers.
There were macrobiotic puddings, classic chocolates, rare cheese cakes, etc. in the glass case at the counter.
They are all vegan sweets, aren’t they.
The seats were half empty, so I could sit wherever I wanted.
This time I decided to sit at the table for two at the far end.
Check Menu
There was a Weekday Lunch Menu on the table.
- Seared Soy Meat Vegan Bowl : About $10.1 (1480 yen)
- Stewed Tuna with Balsamic Sauce Macrobiotics Bowl : About $10.8 (1580 yen)
- Smoke Salmon with Avocado Macrobiotics Bowl : About $10.8 (1580 yen)
- Macrobiotics Butter Chicken Curry : About $10.1 (1480 yen)
- Veggie-hamburg with Maple Mustard Sauce : About $10.8 (1580 yen)
- Bouillabaisse Japanese Style : About $13.5 (1980 yen)
- Assorted Macrobi Meal Plate : About $12.1 (1780 yen)
Huh? Tuna, smoked salmon, and fish are on the menu?
I actually thought macrobiotics = vegan or something like that, but apparently not.
I was curious, so I looked it up and found out that macrobiotics is about valuing ingredients, eating a well-balanced diet, and aiming to live a long and healthy life.
Therefore, there seems to be no strict rule that says you must always avoid meat as well as fish.
However, in the Butter Chicken Curry and other dishes on this menu, soy meat is actually used.
I am also quite interested in Macaroni Cheese Gratin Plate that was on the other menu!
Macrobiotic Sweets Menu included the following items.
For a set with a drink, a single cake set was about $7.2 (1050 yen), and a double cake set with two choices was about $10.1 (1480 yen).
- Vegan Ancient Wheat Pancake & Fruits : About $8.9 (1300 yen)
- Seasonal Glass Shortcake : About $4.4 (650 yen)
- Thick & Creamy Vegan Pudding : About $4.4 (650 yen)
- Setouchi Lemon Soy Rare Cheesecake : About $3.9 (572 yen)
- High-Cacao Classique Chocolate with Almond Milk Soy Milk Ice Cream : About $3.9 (572 yen)
- Macrobiotic Bake Sweet of the Day with Almond Milk Soy Milk Ice Cream : About $3.9 (572 yen)
I am particularly interested in Vegan Ancient Wheat Pancake!
Vegan pancake made with ancient wheat is quite rare!
For Drink Menu, there were various types of drinks including Smoothies, Organic Coffee, Japanese Black Tea, Roasted Green Tea and Herbal Tea.
I am curious about smoothies with superfoods!
Order Assorted Macrobi Meal Plate
I’m personally quite curious about Macaroni Cheese Gratin Plate!
I thought about ordering this, but yeah, from a blogging perspective, I guess I’d better to order this colorful Macrobi Meal Plate.
So I ordered Assorted Macrobi Meal Plate.
The price was about $12.1 (1780 yen).
And this dish had a vegan symbol next to the menu.
I would have ordered a cup of Grain Coffee, but I drank a cup of coffee of 7-Eleven a little before I came here, so I just went with the free water this time.
It was ready around 5 minutes after ordering.
Here Assorted Macrobi Meal Plate came!
Various fried foods, salads, pickles, etc.
A colorful and well-balanced plate.
Rice is domestic organic brown rice.
It was topped with black sesame seeds.
It had just the right amount of elasticity and stickiness.
The quantity is not too much for a man like me but the side dishes are quite hearty.
The fried dishes include soy nuggets, fu cutlets(Wheat gulten bread cutlets), and cereal croquettes.
Fu cutlet is light and crispy!
Cereal croquette is also quite unusual!
At first I thought it was a deep-fried soy cheese-like dish.
But to my surprise, it was made of minor grains!
Soy nugget was also firm and tasty and went perfectly with the sauce on top!
All salads are organic or specially-cultivated vegetables.
The lettuce, kale, red cabbage, and radish were all hearty!
I could enjoy the freshness of all the vegetables, accented by the crunchiness of the millet.
There were also some vegetable side dishes such as hijiki and daikon radish, and I could have enjoyed nearly 20 kinds of vegetables in one dish.
The fried dishes and salads were all very hearty but I didn’t feel heavy in my stomach and felt satisfied!
I wondered if I should order dessert, such as the Ancient Wheat Pancake or Vegan Pudding, but decided to save it for next time, thinking that I will be back in Yurakucho soon.
Summary
Not everything on the restaurant’s menu was vegan (because it may contain fish), but there are a number of dishes on the menu with a vegan symbol mark.
I think they don’t use egg or dairy products for the sweets, so almost all of them are vegan (but please check when ordering just to be sure).
Prices are not cheap, but considering the location by Yurakucho station and the use of organic and specially-cultivated vegetables, I think they are not expensive.
The atmosphere inside the restaurant was relaxing and the waitress was kind and easy to talk to when I asked her a few questions at the end of the meal.
I usually buy sweets at 8ablish or Vegan Marshmallows in the Ginza area but this time I was glad to have come to this restaurant!
I wanna try their macrobiotic and vegan sweets when I come here next time!
